CompTIA Security+ Certification - Overview
The goal of this three-day accelerated course is to provide IT professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate a broad knowledge of security concerns and perform day-to-day security functions.
Incorporating a comprehensive range of security knowledge areas, Security+ was developed with input from industry, government, academia and front-line practitioners.
This certification is designed for professionals with a background in computers and networking. The typical Security+ Firebrand Training candidate will be working in a network or system administration position, or be moving into such a position upon entering the workforce after an undergraduate degree program.
CompTIA Security+ Certification - Benefits

Day 3: Security+ Examination
CompTIA Security+ Certification - Exam Track
The CompTIA Security+ certification exam is targeted at professionals with at least two years of networking experience and possess a thorough knowledge of TCP/IP. Those holding the Security+ certification have demonstrated the aptitude and ability to master such knowledge areas as: general security concepts, communications security, infrastructure security, basics of cryptography, and operational/organizational security.
It is recommended that the Security+ test candidate have the knowledge and skills equivalent of those tested for in the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certification exams.
Taking the Exam
The Security+ exam consists of 100 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. The minimum passing score is 764, graded on a scale of 100 - 900. Test results are displayed as soon as you complete the exam.

Examination Passing Policy
Should a student complete a Firebrand Training Program without having successfully passed all vendor examinations, the student may re-attend that program for a period of one year. Students will only be responsible for accommodations and vendor exam fees.
CompTIA Security+ Certification - Prerequisites
Students who are successful in the CompTIA Security+ Certification Firebrand Training should possess:
- MS-DOS and Windows experience, 2000 and/or XP experience preferred.
- The ability to identify the basic components of networks and their roles, including routers, hubs, switches, and file servers.
- A basic understanding of the OSI Model and TCP/IP.
Firebrand Training staff interview all potential students regarding their technical background, degrees and certifications held, and personal fortitude. This screening process ensures a successful match between the customer and Firebrand Training toward accelerated training and certification.
Firebrand Training is an aggressive training environment. You must have an attitude aimed for success. The above prerequisites are guidelines, but many students with less experience have other background or traits that have enabled their success in accelerated training through Firebrand Training.

"You might not think it is possible to cram the whole MCSE into 14 days but believe me at Firebrand they manage it. Every day is 12-14 hours and after an exam is done you get very little time to recover before getting back into studying for the next one.
This is not an easy course and is not for the faint-hearted. You need conviction and determination if you want to succeed.
That said, the surroundings at Heythrop Park are beautiful, the staff are all very helpful and the food is amazing. If it wasnt for the all the learning and exams it would probably make for a nice holiday!
