Linux - LPI Level 1 Certification - Overview

The goal of this six-day accelerated program for Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) Level 1 and CompTIA Linux+ Certification is to provide professionals with the basic hardware, software, and networking skills necessary to function in an entry level Linux information technology position. The course covers all the major Linux distributions (Red Hat, Caldera, SuSE, Debian, TurboLinux, Slackware, etc.)

This is a performance-based course designed upon the job-related tasks a Linux professional must perform.

At the end of the course a student will be able to:

  • work at the Unix command line
  • perform easy maintenance tasks: help out users, add users to a larger system, backup & restore, shutdown & reboot
  • can install and configure a work station (incl. X) and connect it to the LAN, or a stand-alone PC via modem to the Internet.

Linux - LPI Level 1 Certification - Benefits

Reasons for LPI Linux Level 1 Certification include career advancement, personal improvement, skills enhancement, and higher salaries. Linux - LPI Level 1 Certification Testimonials

"If you like a challenge its the best environment to learn. The instructor was a fountain of knowledge. I have never learned so much in one week before. Its got to be a must for those who need to learn and have not the time for long drawn out courses. Tough work but so worth it."

LPI Linux Level 1 Certification (6 Days) (16/5/2005 to 22/5/2005)

"Firebrand* experience is intensive, but very fulfilling. Each day is crammed with information and labwork to help you better understand the subject matter. A day typically starts with a classroom session, laying the foundations. This is then followed with lab sessions putting everything into practice. At the end of the day there is a review session, allowing the time to find any areas which are not fully understood or to ask questions. Typically then, each evening is completed with a reading session to gain an understanding of the following days material. The intensive nature ensures complete focus throughout the program. All in all an enjoyable and fulfilling, if exhausting time."

"I have received first class training on a subject to which I was a relative newcomer. I have learned a great deal which I will be able to put to immediate use both at home and at work. I elected not to take the exams immediately after because I like to get some real world experience before certification. I know I can come back to take the exams with the training vouchers provided at any time. Firebrand* has lived up to expectations and have done a great job. Well done."

The overall course gave me much usefull skills that I can now apply in the real world more quickly than if I had to apply self learning. Excellent staff and quality trainers will give you more than 100% while you are with them - if you don't succeed then I doubt very much it will be their fault! "The balance of lecture and hands-on lab exercises is well balanced for both novices and experienced users. It not only covered what was needed to attain certification but also touched on areas and approaches that even I was unaware off. In all a concentrated week-long course provided the necessary focus that is not readily available when doing on-site or non-instructor lead training."

Matt Williams, Lindsworth School.

The courses (and exams) are great to fill in gaps in your Linux understanding and knowledge. The week was a very worthwhile experience - and this is from someone who paid for the course themselves."
