5.5 Validate Scope:

  • Showing stakeholders have received what was agreed and formalizing their acceptance.
  • Primarily concerned with the acceptance of the product by validating each deliverable
  • Objectivity into the acceptance process
  • Control Quality checks that the product or deliverable has met it's criteria once produced and is fit for purpose

Validate Scope: Inspection

Validating that work outputs have met requirements. Involves:

  • Comparing baseline specifications and approved changes to the actual project results.
  • Determining the likelihood that remaining deliverables will be completed as forecast.
  • Impact of items failing to meet their acceptance criteria
  • Identifying actions needed to ensure work results will meet specifications and goals.

Steps in the Scope Validation Inspection :

  • Prepare for Scope Validation Inspection.
  • Inspect/Review deliverables and work results.
  • Prepare an Inspection Report and communicate it to key stakeholders.
  • Distribute acceptance documentation.
