  • Guided by historical information from past similar projects
  • Involving others as necessary

Analytical Techniques

  • Rolling wave planning; leads and lags; alternatives analysis
  • Reviewing schedule performance
  • Particular methods (PMI Practice Standard for Scheduling)
  • Method will define what framework and tool will be used to create the schedule model (e.g. Gantt chart; network diagram)
  • Compression techniques (fast tracking; crashing)

Schedule Management Plan

  • How the Project schedule will be developed (level of accuracy; units of measure; links to procedures; tools and models to be used)
  • How the Project schedule will be managed during the project life
  • How estimates are to be made for activity resources and durations
  • What constraints and control thresholds will apply
  • Schedule contingencies will be reported/assessed
  • Changes will be made (by referencing – 4.5 Perform Integrated Change Control)
  • How performance will be measured and reported on and to who
  • Descriptions of all processes which apply
