Day Course
The goal of this seven-day accelerated program for Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) Level 1 and CompTIA Linux+ Certification is to provide professionals with the basic hardware, software, and networking skills necessary to function in an entry level Linux information technology position. The course covers all the major Linux distributions (Red Hat, Caldera, SuSE, Debian, TurboLinux, Slackware, etc.)
This is a performance-based course designed upon the job-related tasks a Linux professional must perform.
Reasons for LPI Linux Level 1 Certification include career advancement, personal improvement, skills enhancement, and higher salaries. According to the Network Computing Special Careers Issue, http://www.networkcomputing.com, the networking professionals that enjoyed the largest compensation increases were those that achieved Linux Professional Institute Certificates.
According to the 2002 CRN Salary Survey, http://www.crn.com, "LPI Linux Level 1 Certification has the advantage of taking the focus off a specific vendor, which is critically important in the Linux area,"... "It gives us an extra degree of flexibility when it comes to providing the right solutions...".
Linux Professional Institute, the leader in Linux training and testing materials, makes the following observations about the benefits of Linux certification:
Other accelerated training providers rely heavily on lecture and independent self-testing and study.
Effective technical instruction must be highly varied and interactive to keep attention levels high, promote camaraderie and teamwork between the students and instructor, and solidify knowledge through hands-on learning.

This information has been provided as a helpful tool for candidates considering certification. Benefits of certification determined through studies do not guarantee any particular personal successes. Firebrand Training provides a guarantee of obtaining certification at the camp, but does not make any guarantees about personal successes or benefits of obtaining certification.
Firebrand Training provides thorough instructor-led training to ensure that you learn the fundamentals, obtain hands-on skills and earn your certification. You will emerge able to immediately apply your new knowledge in your career environment.
Throughout the course, Firebrand Training will evaluate the student's progress and preparedness for the vendor exams through the use of:

Firebrand Training offers top-quality technical education and certification training in an all-inclusive course package specifically designed for the needs and ease of our students. We attend to every detail so our students can focus solely on their studies and certification goals.
Our instructors teach to accommodate every student's learning needs through individualised instruction, hands-on labs, lab partner and group exercises, independent study, self-testing, and question/answer drills.
Firebrand Training has dedicated, well-equipped educational facilities where you will attend instruction and labs and have access to comfortable study and lounging rooms. Our students consistently say our facilities are second-to-none.
Should a student complete a Firebrand Training Program without having successfully passed all vendor examinations, the student may re-attend that program for a period of one year. Students will only be responsible for accommodations and vendor exam fees.
Firebrand Training staff interview all potential students regarding their technical background, degrees and certifications held, and personal fortitude. This screening process ensures a successful match between the customer and Firebrand Training toward accelerated training and certification.
Firebrand Training is an aggressive training environment. You must have an attitude aimed for success. The above prerequisites are guidelines, but many students with less experience have other background or traits that have enabled their success in accelerated training through Firebrand Training.

Excellent staff and quality trainers will give you more than 100% while you are with them - if you don't succeed then I doubt very much it will be their fault!
I thought it was a "shove the knowledge in and get them out the door" kind of place - I am happy to be wrong. Excellent tuition gives you all you need to get on with the job - and certification to boot!"
James Dennett, Atos Origin.

"You have to be prepared to put effort in yourself. Firebrand* will give you everything you need to succeed but you have to help yourself as well by doing the precourse reading and then making sure you complete the assignments, coursework and reading. If you do all that then it's difficult to see how you could fail.

LPI Linux Level 1 Certification (7 Days) (20/2/2006 to 26/2/2006)
"Firebrand* experience is intensive, but very fulfilling. Each day is crammed with information and labwork to help you better understand the subject matter.
A day typically starts with a classroom session, laying the foundations. This is then followed with lab sessions putting everything into practice.
At the end of the day there is a review session, allowing the time to find any areas which are not fully understood or to ask questions. Typically then, each evening is completed with a reading session to gain an understanding of the following days material.
The intensive nature ensures complete focus throughout the program.
All in all an enjoyable and fulfilling, if exhausting time."

This is a tough course but, combined with the accomodation and services available, Firebrand provide an excellent opportunity to tackle it.
If you're new to Linux, make sure that you do the pre-reading as a minimum and do as much additional preparation as possible to familiarise yourself with the topics covered. It will be worth the effort.
