A Firebrand Training
12
Day Course
Our twelve-day Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCAD/MCSD) program is appropriate for lead developers who design and develop leading-edge enterprise solutions with Microsoft development tools, technologies, platforms, and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
The course is constructed to allow students to take their exams in either VB.NET or C#.NET.
The MCSD credential is one of the most widely recognized technical certifications in the industry. By earning the premier MCAD/MCSD for Microsoft .NET credential, individuals demonstrate that they have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration of business solutions with Microsoft products. The MCSD for Microsoft .NET is credential is appropriate for software engineers, application analysts, software application developers, and software developers.
The MCSD job role includes analyzing business and technical requirements, and defining the solution architecture, as well as implementing the requirements and building, deploying, and maintaining the solution. We recommend candidates have at least two years of experience as a lead developer.
Reasons for Microsoft MCSD certification include career advancement, personal improvement, skills enhancement, and higher salaries. Certification garners industry recognition of your knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft most current products and technologies.
Technical certification is a sound investment in your career. Although certification does not guarantee success, research has shown that it can have a significant impact on:
Other accelerated training providers rely heavily on lecture and independent self-testing and study.
Effective technical instruction must be highly varied and interactive to keep attention levels high, promote camaraderie and teamwork between the students and instructor, and solidify knowledge through hands-on learning.
This information has been provided as a helpful tool for candidates considering certification. Benefits of certification determined through studies do not guarantee any particular personal successes. Firebrand Training provides a guarantee of obtaining certification at the camp, but does not make any guarantees about personal successes or benefits of obtaining certification.
Firebrand Training has an aggressive educational schedule that thoroughly covers all essential elements necessary to become certified as a Microsoft Certified Application Developer.
Certification candidates must pass five certification exams to earn MCSD certification. The exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise.
Firebrand Training offers top-quality technical education and certification training in an all-inclusive course package specifically designed for the needs and ease of our students. We attend to every detail so our students can focus solely on their studies and certification goals.
Our instructors teach to accommodate every student's learning needs through individualised instruction, hands-on labs, lab partner and group exercises, independent study, self-testing, and question/answer drills.
Firebrand Training has dedicated, well-equipped educational facilities where you will attend instruction and labs and have access to comfortable study and lounging rooms. Our students consistently say our facilities are second-to-none.
Should a student complete a Firebrand Training Program without having successfully passed all vendor examinations, the student may re-attend that program for a period of one year. Students will only be responsible for accommodations and vendor exam fees.
The MCSD job role includes analyzing business and technical requirements, and defining the solution architecture, as well as implementing the requirements and building, deploying, and maintaining the solution. We recommend candidates have at least two years of experience as a lead developer.
All MCSD candidate should have at least one year of work experience developing and/or maintaining department-level applications, components, Web or desktop clients, or back-end data services. Additional basic knowledge of .NET, for example: "Have installed Visual Studio .NET and become familiarised with it over the course of a couple of weeks." is an advantageous.
It is also recommended that a student has at least 6 months of experience working with SQL Server or another relational database.
VB 5 or 6 experience including creating and using classes to build Windows based, Web based, or component based applications.
Alternative knowledge in a different object-oriented language is also acceptable, but some Visual Basic (not VBA) coding experience is advisable.
For developers intending to sit the C# exams, you must be competent with the C# language syntax before attending the course. In addition, practical knowledge of another object orientated language (such as C, C++ or Java) if the candidate does not have hands-on experience with C#.
Firebrand Training staff interview all potential students regarding their technical background, degrees and certifications held, and personal fortitude. This screening process ensures a successful match between the customer and Firebrand Training toward accelerated training and certification.
Firebrand Training is an aggressive training environment. You must have an attitude aimed for success. The above prerequisites are guidelines, but many students with less experience have other background or traits that have enabled their success in accelerated training through Firebrand Training.
"The Lecturer really knew his stuff. His knowledge of the subject and his experience with the exam format definitely made the difference between a passing grade and a fail."
Jan Eyres, Bond Pearce (law firm).

"Nothing can prepare you for doing training Firebrand* way, but it works and it's worth it."
Derek Lakin, Vitec Group Communications.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (18/7/2005 to 29/7/2005)
"The two weeks that I spent at Firebrand* were extremely intensive, but utterly worthwhile. Having an experienced trainer who clearly revelled in what he was doing made it that much more enjoyable. It's tough but thoroughly rewarding in the end. Had there been no exams to sit as part of the course, the actual learning experience will prove to be invaluable."
Adam Lamping, American Express.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (21/7/2003 to 3/8/2003)
"It was a great experience. Our instructor was the best I've ever met. Everything at the camp was designed to motivate us studying and learning every minute. I have to put a note about restaurant staff- you cannot get better service in a top restaurant. Cheerful staff and wonderful meals everyday.
Heythrop Park was beautiful but unfortunately we didnt have any time to live that.
Efficiency was made it possible to achieve results in two weeks -which could be months otherwise.
Its not a place for the half-hearted, embrace yourself for a very hard schedule and hard work. You'll be very tired at the end but its well worth it.
Wouldn't go anywhere else once you experience this."
Mehmet Soytorun, Manpower.

Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (21/7/2003 to 3/8/2003)
"I attended Firebrand* with no background in .NET, and no expectations - except that it was going to be hard work.
The course timetable is even more difficult than I had imagined, but it is achievable as the subject matter is of real interest, and the general buzz of the whole place - both from fellow delegates and the intructors - is uplifting.
If you are an IT professional, with a real interest in what you do and a keen desire to learn, you have all the tools you need. If you are not prepared to work hard and put the time in then I suggest you take up knitting instead."
Anon, KMS Internet.

Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (7/11/2005 to 18/11/2005)
"MSCD in 14 days! An amazing learning experience. I can't beleive how much we covered, particularly in the MCAD section. At least 80% of the class had very little experience of .NET before the course but at least 80% of the group were MCAD's by end of the week."
AH, No one right now.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (13/10/2003 to 26/10/2003)
"The instructors don't just know the technology, they use it day-in-day-out in the real world. If you listen to them, and put in all your time and effort, you'll not only come away with your qualification, but the enthusiasm to use your new skills back in the office.
Its a tough course, but these guys CAN get you through it.

"Be prepared to work hard and concentrate. Firebrand* make it as good as it can possibly be. The facilities on-site were excellent and allowed time to focus on the learning experience. The instructor was excellent; able to move at a sufficient pace and at the same time help to learn the important underlying concepts to have a proper understanding of the topic. "
Anthony Mather, ICT Arc hitects Limited.

"Once again, the instructor (Doug Rees) was a major contributor to me passing the exams (as well as the 12 - 15 hour days that I had to put in). Great course, great facilities and a great result. Thanks again Doug."
Vincent Larkin, Barclays Bank.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (7/2/2005 to 11/2/2005)
"Having attended training courses in the past, I only really expected to get certification out of the course. I was wrong. Having only a little experience in .Net, I came away with a really good grounding across the board. I have never been on a course where you learn so much in such a short period of time. Of course, the instructor was awesome!"
George Weaving, Meridian Computer Services.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (1/5/2006 to 12/5/2006)
"This is my second time at Firebrand* to complete the second half of the MCSD course. Having trained with other training companies I would without a doubt rate Firebrand* above any other. The environment is perfect to get away from all the normal day to day distractions. The trainer was excellent once again and his knowledge went far beyond the constraints of the course materials.I rated the training that much that i sent the rest of my team here to carry out their training"
James Inman, NSK Europe.

"The time spent at Firebrand* was well worth it. However, it is so intensive and the reading materials that had to be covered are so much in a short time. Unlike me, please read ALL the prereading materials sent to you before you get in. I will definitely recommend a Firebrand* experience to anyone going for a certification. I got the MCAD at least!"
George France, Contractor.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (26/6/2006 to 7/7/2006)
"This is an option only for people with a suitable background in programming and for learning at an extremely rapid speed. There is no time to learn from experience and it will not suit everyone. I had one of the best tutors around who will serve your needs well if you can move quickly through the material. Thanks you! - I learned so much in such a short time."
Dave Rhodes, Walsall College.
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (07/11/2005 to 11/11/2005)
"Firebrand* fit a lot of effective training into a short time at a reasonable price - they're simply the best value for money we could find."
Gsvin Greig, Insights Learning & Development Ltd..
Microsoft MCAD to MCSD Upgrade (5 Days) (7/2/2005 to 11/2/2005)
"My experience at Firebrand* was one I will never forget. It is very hard work and you need to be compleetly focused to get the best from it. This is made easier by the excellent staff and tutors.
The instructor was by far the best tutor I have had the pleasure of being tought by. Not only did he know the course back to front, but his knowledge of .NET was second to none. I always felt comfortable that I would learn all I need to pass the exams.
I will certainly be using Firebrand* again!
Well done to all staff"
Mark Ruby, Reuters.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (1/5/2006 to 12/5/2006)
"If you want to get up to speed with .NET fast, and I mean FAST, as well as get some qualifications, this is the place. It's not easy, 15 hour days are the norm with 250-350 pages to read per night. If you put in the effort you will learn more in 2 weeks than you ever thought possible. "
David Braun, Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (10/11/2003 to 22/11/2003)
"Firebrand* was a tough two weeks but well worth the effort. Its amazing to think that in the space of two weeks it is possible to go from having very little .NET experience to MCAD and then onto MCSD!"
Kevin Baister, EDS.
Microsoft MCAD/MCSD (12 Days) (30/8/2004 to 12/9/2004)
"A tough week with a lot to take in, but worth the effort for the result."
